LuxeHome Chill 2017: Food, Wine and Kitchen Design – a delicious recap of my experience at the International wine and food festival led by 50 Chicago Chefs.

What could be more fun than attending an event with the top 50 chefs in Chicago, access to more than 150 premium international wines and located in the most beautiful interior design showrooms around with the goal of raising money for three important Chicago charities? Not much, if you ask me!

For The Children: The Jackson Chance Foundation and One Step Camps

Posted by | Fundraiser | 8 Comments

This has been a month of fundraising for wonderful organizations tying together restaurants, hotels, wine and spirits and VERY generous people. Last week, I shared how a prestigious cooking school, Kendall College, and fresh and modern, Fig and Olive Restaurant, were able to raise funds for their scholarships and the National Breast Cancer Foundation, respectively, over fried chicken, champagne and salmon!

Today, I have two new experiences to share with you:

As someone who works in the home design and cooking space, attending LuxeHome Chill each November is one of the highlights of the year for me. This year, we celebrated the 10th annual LuxeHome Chill International Wine and Culinary event. Held at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart, designer showrooms filled with the most gorgeous housewares, fabrics and lighting grace the vignettes which are the backdrop for over 50 world class chefs and over 150 wines to be offered to guests.luxehome-housewares-picmThis premier food festival is presented in cooperation with Wine Spectator Magazine with the evening’s proceeds benefiting three Chicago charities:

Food, Champagne and Fundraising at Kendall College and Fig & Olive

Posted by | Fundraiser, Restaurants | 5 Comments

Food brings people together. No matter what the reason, whether sitting at the table, standing in the kitchen, in a restaurant or for a cause, it is the glue that holds people together.

This past month, I have had the pleasure of participating in 4 different types of events all designed to raise money for amazing organizations. Some are medical and some are education focused but all took place over a meal. This post will share Kendall College and Fig & Olive’s events. You can read about the Jackson Chance Foundation Ping Pong Ball and the FLIGHT event next Tuesday.

Alzheimer’s Association 29th Annual Gala Results Just In

Posted by | Fundraiser | 21 Comments

Time is of the Essence. That was the theme of the 29th annual Alzheimer’s Association Rita Hayworth Gala. Held on May 7, this beautifully designed event welcomed guests to the Chicago Hilton’s International Ballroom for an evening of dining, dancing and honoring those who so generously give of themselves for this organization’s mission. Live and silent auction bidding on some fabulous items from dining to sports to jewelry to travel to wine and spirits to cooking experiences created friendly sparring to help in the fundraising efforts. There was something for everyone to bid on in the end!

An Invitation to Alzheimers Association, Rita Hayworth Gala

Posted by | Fundraiser, Restaurants | 12 Comments

Time is of the Essence. Every 67 seconds, someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s disease. That’s a scary statistic. As someone whose family has been affected by Alzheimer’s disease, this cause is very close to my heart. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of so many doctors, researchers and the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association, we are seeing progress in better understanding this disease.

Tickled Pink Gala for Breast Cancer Awareness

Posted by | Fundraiser, Restaurants | 7 Comments

Tickled Pink. Cute expression, right? What if I told you that Tickled Pink Chicago has raised over $1.8 million since 2005 for breast cancer research and awareness? This fabulous event was started by the talented Jodi Fyfe, in memory of her beloved cousin, Carrie Kenney, who at a young age, lost her battle with breast cancer. Looking for ways to honor her vibrant cousin, she launched Tickled Pink Chicago creating an annual fundraiser to honor Carrie’s philosophy to celebrate life. In 2013, Tickled Pink Chicago partnered with Bright Pink, the only national non-profit organization focusing on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer.… Read more

Culinary Events Celebrating Jackson Chance Foundation and LuxeHome Chill

Posted by | Culinary Event, Education, Entertainment, Fundraiser, Trends | 20 Comments

There are so many reasons in life for food to bring people together: Celebrations of birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, friendship, family, and holidays to name a few. Probably the most generous reason is when businesses, causes and people gather to raise money for organizations to help those in need.

I recently had the opportunity to participate in two such experiences that just showcase how we all come together to aid those in our community. The Jackson Chance Foundation and the LuxeHome Chill event took place within this past month. While each had a different purpose, they both brought together people who wanted to support the efforts of each fundraiser.… Read more
