With school being out for the summer, you may be looking for activities for your kids while you are focused on your kitchen remodel or simple desire to relax in a lawn chair and read cookbooks. Have I got a solution to share with you!
When we think of leagues for children (or adults) to join, it is usually in the sports category. However, Super League Gaming has created a video gaming league just for those who love to play video games. In fact, there is actually a summer tour going on across the country and here in Chicago for those who love to play Minecraft.
Super League Gaming is the world’s first recreational video gaming league that is set inside major movie theaters across the country. Right now, Super League Gaming is holding Minecraft tournaments across the Chicagoland area (see chart below for dates and locations). Gamers play a fun mix of builder battle, creative construction and arena style mayhem. They are socializing, moving around the theater and competing in a recreational setting. The top players are shown at the end, highlighted on the Super League leaderboard, with the potential to win prizes.
All that the players need to bring with them are their computers. Seating is even set up to have room for a mouse if they want to bring that as well. Using Super League’s proprietary technology, players merge on one big screen in the theater. They are playing normally on their own laptops but share a third person aerial view on the theater’s screen. How cool is that?!
Parents are welcome to come and help their children get settled in for the game. There are Super League Action Squad members there to assist as well if needed. Ticket prices are $20 for the 100 minute in-theater gameplay. Kids can enjoy their snacks and play Minecraft in a league environment.
