How to Care for Cast Iron Cookware

Posted by | Cookware, Housewares | No Comments

What’s the best way to clean and maintain cast iron cookware? That is a question that anyone who has worked in the housewares, more specifically, cookware industry, has been asked a thousand times.

The good news? I am going to answer that question right here so you can use those amazing pieces sitting in your cabinet every day. Here’s the reason why you want to use them:

  • Cast iron cookware will last forever. It’s literally passed down from generation to generation.
  • It’s essentially indestructible. Use on the stove, in the oven, on the grill and on the campfire.
  • It cooks evenly no matter how well the heat is dispersed.

I just got the “funnest” new pan and I want to share it with you. Cast iron cookware has been around for a very long time as most people know. After this year’s International Home and Housewares Show where I spent time talking with the nice folks from Lodge Cast Iron, I am making it my mission this year to learn all about it.

I know that cast iron cookware is traditionally passed down from generation to generation especially in the South. But the demand for this style of cookware is expanding rapidly. Favorite Finds from the International Home and Housewares Show

Posted by | Housewares, Housewares Show, Trade Show | No Comments

After five days of exploring the 2019 International Home and Housewares Show, I can honestly tell you that I still love going to this show! With more than 60,000 attendees and 2,200 exhibitors, there is so much to see and learn about. The show is held at Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center in three of its enormous halls.

What never ceases to amaze me is the creativity of products shown. Yes, all the major brands are there but so are small, soon-to-be-well-known (in my opinion) companies from all over the world. If you have ever wondered how a product comes to life, consider that someone had a need and made it happen. … Read more

Cookware 101

Having been involved in the bridal registry space from a housewares standpoint for a long time now, I recognize how intimidating the walls of cookware in a store can be for someone unfamiliar with all the brands, sizes, styles and surfaces. When I talk with registrants about what cookware they are currently using, many times they tell me it is from college, their mom or a discount store. All absolutely fine answers. Until I ask them if they like to cook. When they say they love cooking, then I know we need to have a deeper discussion on their style of cooking and how many people they tend to cook for.… Read more

I love to grill. Vegetables. Yes, there it is. Not gourmet but so delicious! One of my favorite sandwiches is super easy and very customizable as you can see from comments on Inspiring Kitchen’s Facebook page. (https://www.facebook.com/inspiringkitchen). What works so well with this dish is being able to have friends over and everyone gets to make their own personalized sandwich varying with the choice of filling. What I will typically do is have a platter of all different kinds of vegetables (colored peppers, onions, zucchini, squash, eggplant, tomatoes, fennel,  etc), sauces, spreads (salsa, pesto, sun dried garlic paste – yum!), cheeses and even meat for those who want it.… Read more

This week, I had the opportunity to attend the National Restaurant Association Show as well as the International Wine, Spirits and Beer event in Chicago. These trade shows are intended to showcase products, operational equipment, services, food and beverage items from over 1800 exhibitors for those who have some connection to the restaurant space. As someone who is very familiar with the International Housewares Show, this show offered me a different perspective on the world of cooking and housewares.

Here is my list of items that I found while walking the show that you might find delicious/enticing/helpful and just fun to have.… Read more
