After getting home from a long day at work, the last thing I want to do is pull out numerous pots and pans to make dinner. When I look for convenience foods, I am trying to find healthy options that offer variety in terms of flavor and preparation.
Having learned about Veetee Rice products (http://www.veetee.com/en-us), I was intrigued by the assortment of rice combinations they offered. This gave me a bit of creativity to add proteins, spices, herbs and fruits to make the rice my own. Here are some examples of the types of rice combinations they offer:
Chicken Flavored Rice
Whole Grain Brown Rice & Quinoa
Spicy Spanish Style Rice
New Orleans Style Red Beans & Rice
Thai Lime & Herb Rice
Basmati Rice
Thai Jasmine Rice
Wholegrain Brown Rice
If you are Gluten-free, Vegetarian or Vegan, you will find Veetee options just for you. Visit their website or look at the packaging as it is marked there for quick reference. You can find them in your local Chicago Jewel Osco stores now too. (www.jewelosco.com)
Besides the delicious taste, what I really liked about the style of packaging is how easy they are to prepare. Now, making rice is typically not a challenging dish to make. But, it can take time in a pot on the stove or in a rice cooker. These products come in approximately 10 ounce packages that are perfect as a side dish for two people or as a main course for one person. They take all of two minutes to make in the microwave and just requires you to pull back the film in terms of effort. How easy is that?!
I made two different dishes using their New Orleans Style Red Beans and Rice with Cajun grilled shrimp and a lime grilled chicken breast with the Wholegrain Brown Rice and Quinoa that I added herbs and dried cranberries too. Both were so good and opposite in flavors as you can imagine. The New Orleans Style was packed with flavor and seasonings like smoked paprika. The Wholegrain Brown Rice and Quinoa had a nutty flavor from the rice and a good dose of protein from the quinoa.
Veetee is now available in our local Chicago Jewel stores (www.jewelosco.com) making it so convenient to grab a few packages for the week’s lunch or dinners. In case shopping online is easier for you, then Amazon is your resource here. You will find a number of the different flavors for you to choose from. Sounds like a very convenient side dish for people who are on-the-go, or to bring to work for lunch. I’m curious to know the ingredients and sodium content.

Veetee’s Brown Rice with Quinoa is a real healthy treat! It would be good with a porkchop! If you haven’t tried Nasi Goreng, you should. It is rice cooked in coconut cream.
I have never heard of or seen this brand in the stores-but I will keep my eyes open and grab one if I do. I don’t have a microwave but I think I could probably transfer it to an aluminum pan and cook in the oven!
Very excited to learn about these options! I love that they have vegetarian and gluten free options! Perfect for me!
It’s awesome that they’re featuring different flavors from all over the world. I’m just used to fried rice or just your typical plain rice. The flavors all look delish and I would definitely want to try any of those soon.
