NATIONAL COFFEE DAY

Coffee lovers, our day is fast approaching! National Coffee Day is Wednesday, September 29 (and October 1 for International Coffee Day). Whether you are a fan of coffee from your local shop or brew your own at home, there is a cup waiting for you. Since I drink most of my coffee at home, exploring new brands and ways to enjoy my favorite beverage flavor is a challenge I welcome. So, on this special day designed for coffee fans, I am sharing a selection of 14 coffee flavored drinks, sweets and snacks for you to sample.

Now, some people drink coffee for the energy boost – thanks, caffeine! But for me, it is all about the flavor. Whether you drink your coffee black, with a splash of milk (how about oatmilk?), seasonally flavored (hello Pumpkin Spice), in a bottle on-the-go, instant (we have come so far on this one), a purist’s espresso, from a pod, nitro cold brewed or as a “hard” coffee, this post is for you. And while you are enjoying your coffee this National Coffee Day, it is important to be aware of how the beans are farmed, produced and distributed and encouraging the use of Fair Trade practices.

In Brooklyn, NY, there is a namesake coffee roaster called Brooklyn Roasting Company. Their business philosophy is easily summarized as serious but not snobby, practical not pretentious, accessible not exclusive. Like Brooklyn, they are bold, brave, colorful and creative.

They believe that making delicious coffee is a fundamentally simple proposition: Grind freshly-roasted, high-quality beans into clean brewing equipment and add near-boiling filtered water. Wait a couple of minutes and voila! A perfect cup of piping-hot coffee. Their employee and wholesale training programs stress the importance of trusting one’s senses rather than relying upon digital equipment. Developing a feel for how to create flavor in a cup is paramount.BROOKLYN ROASTING COMPNANY IRIS National Coffee Day

Each component is roasted separately to preserve origin character and achieve extraction and consistency. Brooklyn Roasting Company suggests letting these beans rest for a few days after roasting before pulling any shots. Named after the founder’s daughter, Iris, this signature blend reflects her colorful, radiant personality. In the cup, jammy, spicy, balanced with notes of bakers chocolate, root beer, flowers and figs.

Along with their extensive collection of coffee varieties, they also produce a Coffee Peanut Butter spread that is the perfect blend of these rich flavors. REBEL HARD COFFEE

Socializing over coffee has taken a turn with the introduction of REBEL Hard Coffee in August, 2020. “I thought I loved coffee, turns out I really love creamer.” I saw that on a meme once. It’s totally me! But I do love the flavor of coffee and would be interested in learning more about it and trying different kinds the enthusiasts swear by.

    • Inspiring Kitchen says:

It’s such an interesting subject as where and how the beans are grown and roasted makes such a difference in the flavor in the cup. Hope this list gives you some new brands to try. Thanks!

  • How did I not know National Coffee Day was coming up?! I love how some of these companies are starting to make more recyclable products such as K-cups!

  • Tisha says:

I had no idea there was a National coffee day…but I’m not surprised! These all sound great! I’m not a coffee drinker but I love the smell of it
