On the day I was invited to check out the new 2022 Ford F-150 EV Lightning™ trucks, I immediately thought of my truck-loving friend who always challenged me to consider buying a truck for my next vehicle.
Well, Bob, I understand why after learning about the new F-150 Lightning all electric truck. Pickup trucks and electric vehicles were new to me so I have many takeaways to share. Take a look at this video to see the vehicle’s design and features.
2022 Ford F-150 EV Truck
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning series has a number of different models. Some features are constant across the board. Pricing starts at $39,000 and will exceed $80,000 once you explore the Platinum model.
In all models, the acceleration from the EV powertrain is quick with zero emissions. This is an all electric series that can go over three hundred miles before needing to be charged. Buyers will be able to charge their F-150 Lightnings at home via 110- and 220-volt outlets. You will also be able to charge using public fast charging stations. Ford suggests it can charge from 15 percent to 80 percent of battery capacity in 44 minutes.
The onboard technology is impressive. The infotainment screen is the size of a small television. It offers a vast assortment of details about the truck itself, charging status and stations within a proximity to where you are and your destination among other searchable information.
As someone who works in my car every so often, trying to hold a computer by propping it up against the steering wheel to type will find this workstation very convenient. Put the gearshift down at the push of a button and voila, expand your center armrest to become a desktop.
Electrical outlets are on the dashboard as well for phone and computer charging. This is multi tasking at its finest while on the road.
For construction or trades people, there are helpful features on this vehicle. To start, the EV pickup is capable of towing up to 10,000 pounds.
Outlets on the sidewall of the truck bed – convenient for using or charging electrical tools.
The truck bed offers measuring sticks embedded in the truck bed door with other helpful organizational features like the tablet/phone holder to keep your device vertical for calls and meetings.
Storage in this Ford F-150 EV truck has something you don’t consider when you have a gas engine in a vehicle. Where the engine would be is now a storage space that is large enough to hold two golf bag size items.
Storage under the backseat can be hidden by the design framework so items aren’t out in the open.
This area also has electrical outlets for charging lights, fans, etc. in addition, there is a drainage port that lets you use a section of it for ice to cool drinks or food. When it melts, the water goes out the drain in the “bin”.
If you need a temporary generator for your home, you can use the F-150 battery to power your home for up to three days.
The inside of the vehicle is spacious whether for five adults or adults and children. Plenty of space for sports or camping equipment.
