Going to a steakhouse as a non-meat eater can sometimes be concerning. Will the fish that they offer me be at the same standards as the steaks being served? Will I have choices or just that one line item of salmon? Had I gone to Sullivan’s Steakhouse from the start, I would never be asking these questions. The fish is outstanding. In the quaint downtown of Naperville, Illinois, you will find a Sullivan’s Steakhouse. There are many reasons to be celebrating at Sullivan’s in Naperville. From the newly remodeled restaurant with a contemporary feelto the holiday season to a girl’s gathering to family dinners to a work meeting. But more than anything, the reason to go to Sullivan’s is the diverse and absolutely delicious menu.
After talking with the Chef, I learned a lot about how Sullivan’s operates. Their focus is to be seen as a “Guest-Driven” restaurant. Their willingness to modify recipes to accommodate their guest’s dietary restrictions is so welcome and honestly, appreciated. Whether your needs are due to allergies, food preferences (Vegan, Vegetarian) or gluten-free, you will be well taken care of at Sullivan’s. Since everything is made from scratch, creating these dishes are done at a very personal level.
We started our lunch with a potentially “dangerous” cocktail called the “Knockout”. While the name is a bit intimidating, it is so worth it. This signature martini is made with Svedka Clementine Vodka infused with fresh Hawaiian pineapples. Now, how good is YOUR resistance?! Fruity with a light sweetness. This is one not to miss.
For appetizers, we had to have the seafood options…in hot and cold! Fresh fish is flown in five times a week from Florida, Boston or California.
Cold Seafood Sampler:
Cracked Stone Crab Claws, Cocktail Shrimp, Alaskan King Crab and Oysters on the Half Shell
Hot Seafood Sampler:
Warm Garlic Butter Shrimp, Steamed Alaskan King Crab, Grilled Cold Water Lobster Tail and Oysters Rockefeller
This multi colored beet salad with a shallot Dijon vinaigrette was a huge hit. Besides being so colorful, the freshness of the beets and greens was noticed in each bite.
For my meat-eating friends, it was all about the lamb with cherry au jus
And seared duck breast with orange butter sauce
But, while my friends were very much enjoying their main course, I had the best dish of all:
Cajun-Spiced Seared Ahi Tuna with cucumber noodles and spicy mustard sauce
Since it was the holiday season, we had to have a festive dessert. This Crème Brulee with crushed peppermint was sweet and creamy and left us all feeling happy and very full!
Whether you are a local or just passing through the community, Sullivan’s Steakhouse is the place to stop for a meal of creative ingredients, high quality meats and fish and a welcoming environment. Weekly specials and musical entertainment draws a crowd no matter the season. Grab your friends and celebrate the holidays at Sullivan’s!
